After working with Dance Magazine, the oldest and most respected magazine about dance, and spending time at dance festivals, competitions and events that drew thousands of dance students from all over the world, R&S proposed the idea for Young Dancer, a quarterly magazine specifically for dancers ages 8-14. Young Dancer was the first of its kind and built a lively and loyal readership during its two-year run. Working as editor and art director, R&S crafted the personality and voice of Young Dancer. With access to Dance Magazine's extensive archive of historical photography, R&S was able to produce beautiful dance history pieces alongside interviews with new and established dancers. The magazine was also filled with playful illustrations, comics, games and dance fashion. Young Dancer had a circulation of 150,000 and was distributed internationally.
Edited and designed by R&S.
